The Rhude "Dark" Series T-Shirt Collection is listed at $8.36 against a $9.53 comparison price, in pure cotton, S through XL, with a stated 250–300 gsm weight and a print graphic. The listing's weight field reads 0.00, and there is no per-variant measurement column at all. That is the gap our bench exists to fill: we ordered four sizes, routed two through each agent in our basket, and taped and weighed every piece before anyone wore them.
What we ordered and how it was logged
Four tees, one per size. Two parcels: a Small and a Large through one agent, a Medium and an Extra Large through the other, submitted at the same hour so the QC photo sets landed on comparable clocks. Each tee was photographed flat on the bench next to a tape measure, then weighed on the same scale. The parcel total came to 1.24 kg including the mailer, and the per-tee spread was 300 g to 325 g.
Bench measurements, flat and unstretched
These are our numbers, taken armpit to armpit across the chest and from the collar seam to the bottom hem. They are not the brand's numbers, because the brand does not publish any.
| Size | Chest (flat) | Body length | Sleeve | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 56 cm | 66 cm | 21 cm | 300 g |
| M | 58 cm | 68 cm | 22 cm | 309 g |
| L | 61 cm | 70 cm | 23 cm | 317 g |
| XL | 64 cm | 71 cm | 24 cm | 325 g |
The chest steps up 2, 3 and 3 cm. The length steps up 2, 2 and just 1 cm. That last figure is the interesting one: an XL is only 1 cm longer in the body than a Large, while being 3 cm wider. Sizing up buys width, not length.
The hem is the whole story
Buyer reports have said for years that Rhude tees are oversized, and the usual advice is to size down. Our tape says the truth is narrower and more awkward than that. These are wide garments with a short body, which is not the same thing as oversized. A Medium wearer who takes the reported "size down" advice ends up in a Small with a 66 cm body — shorter than most basic tees at that chest width.
"Can I wear from the rhude tees a XL size, because it's a boxy fit. Normally I wear medium, but that size was too small on the bottom." — wearer report on Rhude sizing
On the bench, the trailing seams explain it. The side seam allowance at the hem is generous, roughly 2.5 cm folded and twin-needled, so the finished length sits shorter than the cut length suggests. The garment is cut wide and finished short on purpose. If your usual tees skim your hip, these will not.
Fabric weight against the 250–300 gsm claim
We cannot measure grams per square metre without cutting a swatch, which we were not willing to do on a wearable order. What we can do is weigh each tee and estimate from panel area. Working from a flat-panel area of about 1.15 m², the four pieces land in the 260–283 gsm band. That is inside the listed range and toward its top. In the hand it reads as a substantial mid-weight jersey — opaque under a daylight lamp, no visible show-through on the lighter prints, and a dry rather than silky face.
The listing also promises a non-iron finish plus breathability, antibacterial and cooling-touch functions. We can confirm the first only in the sense that the tees arrived flat-folded with no creasing worth steaming. The other three are catalog claims we have no way to test at the bench, and we are not going to mark them verified because a description says so.
Three prints under a daylight lamp
The image set runs to 34 shots covering cartoon motifs, mountain scenes and racing-inspired artwork. We received three of those variants. Print edges were clean at the collar-adjacent chest area, registration held on the multi-colour mountain graphic, and the ink sat on top of the jersey rather than sinking into it — which is what you would expect on a heavier cotton and is why the graphics read crisp rather than washed.
What the listing never provides is a variant column. Colour placement changes from print to print, and the gallery mixes them together. Judge the exact colourway from its own photographs, not from the collection as a whole.
What the QC photo sets left out
Both agents photographed the front, back and collar. Neither laid a tape across the chest, and neither weighed the item. That is precisely why the numbers above exist: if you are buying this tee for its cut, ask your agent for a chest and length measurement in the QC request rather than trusting the photo angle. The collar rib was the one place the photos did help — it looked identical across all four QC sets, and at the bench it held shape through 50 pulls without going wavy.
Where the $8.36 goes
At $8.36 the tee is not where the money is. Freight, consolidation and any per-item service fee decide the landed cost, and on a single lightweight tee the shipping line can easily exceed the garment. Our four-tee parcel is the honest way to buy this: the per-tee freight falls sharply once the parcel carries more than one piece, and the sizes are cheap enough to order two and keep the one that fits.
The open caution is quality rather than construction. A reviewer of Rhude pieces elsewhere said the fabric on a later release was noticeably worse than an earlier one and questioned the value at the brand's price point. That comment is about Rhude garments generally and not this listing, and our four tees showed no seam or rib faults — but it is the one thing we cannot measure away, and it is worth holding in mind alongside the low unit price.
Read together, the tape says something specific: buy this for a wide, short, print-forward tee, buy your true chest size rather than sizing down, and accept that the hem will sit higher than you expect.
